Lack of sleep can put you in numerous risks, but did you know that your age also depends on your sleep duration?
Experts believe that the sleepers' lives are shortened, while the more people who sleep, the more they age.
"Sleep has to do with our physical and mental health, as well as our attitudes," Matthew Walker, a scientist, told TED Talk.
"A part of our brain hippocampus accumulates new information, but singles who work on hippos have not been seen in people who lack sleep," he said.
Walker says that lack of sleep can also damage our DNA threads.
During one experiment, a group of 6 hours of sleep and 8 hours of sleep were tested daily, he said.
Experts found that 6 hours of sleeplessness not only inhibited the functioning of working genes, but also increased the performance of those genes associated with tumors, cardiovascular diseases, and mental stress.
Walker says memory circuits in people with sleep deprivation are filled with water; this condition of memory circuits occurs when a new (newborn) brain is formed. At that time these memory circuits could not absorb new information.
He added that by making our sleep regular and improving we can improve many aspects of our lives.
